Credits to Caesar for organizing the photo shooting with few of the young models. Didn’t shoot much of the photos. Wasn’t prepared or couldn’t come up with a theme on the spot. So its just another “simply shoot shoot”. The photo shooting session was held at amphitheater, near to Civic Center.

btw, that is one of my favourite orange bag he is using. Crumpler rocks!

Martial Art Display 2008

August 24th, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Event Coverage

This is probably the last event inconjunction with month long Kuching City Day celebration. The event, Martial Art Display 2008 was held at the MBKS Hockey Stadium. It was raining heavily earlier that day but fortunate it stopped raining during the event.

The event is supported by the large crowd of taichi members both young and old. Other participants includes the ITF Taekwondo, Wushu and Silat. All demonstrated their skills and action on the field. Then followed by individual and group demonstration.

Taekwondo as expectedly demonstrated their pattern movements and also breaking techniques. As a taekwondo member myself, I do find them rather “lembik” or in english - softy. Its easy to earn a blackbelt in ITF taekwondo. You can see a member as young as 12 years old having a blackbelt.

As for some photography comments, its quite challenging to shoot fast movements. I get to try out some ideas of mine. but didn’t work out as I expected. Could have been better if its daytime.

Anyway, for more photos.. read more.

Spring Bridal and Imaging Fair 2008

Model

Model

This year, the event is held at The Spring Mall. The bridal fashion show was showcased for 2 days. Went there for a shooting spree. The models were gorgeous I must say. Lots of photographers. I would say about 30 to 40 of them excluding those compact camera users.

Main challenge was that there were too many lightings. Spotlights, stage lights and backlight from the window panels behind. Still it was a pretty interesting event and again it was another great experience shooting such event.

Cutest of them all

Cutest of them all

I have managed to capture this model which I personally think is the cutest. She is also very playful and fun as you can see in the photo. The closed photoshooting event was held at the Sarawak Cultural Village at Santubong which is about 45 mins from the city.

Buntal Sunrise

Buntal Sunrise

This is one place where you need to be well protected from mosquitoes. Shield yourself completely in any possible way. A friend of mine was stung so bad that he looked like he had chicken pox infection.

Anyway, we reached there about 6am. Setup all our equipment and waited for the sun to rise. It was simply a breath taking view. Not to mention the sound of the waves coming from far end and wind blowing. Its just a relaxing atmosphere. This excludes the annoying mosquitoes.

Hanoi Travel

April 3rd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Travel

Touch down in Hanoi, Vietnam. Not a very big airport. Looks kinda like Kuching International Airport. Rather quiet and empty at times. We all got down from the plane to the bus and 5 mins drive to another Terminal.

My first impression of Vietnamese is that they are rather inconsiderate. During the trip in the plane from Kuala Lumpur to Hanoi, one of the Vietnamese pull down the table top behind the plane seat. Then spread out her laptop and start bringing more items from her bag. I saw KFC and burgers. It was a strictly NO OUTSIDE FOOD regulation and yet they did that openly. Furthermore, she played some Vietnamese songs where some may not called it MUSIC. I am certainly one of them. I was annoyed and complained to the air stewardess. The air stewardess was kind enough to forward my message to the young Vietnamese lady. The girl resume her operations right after the stewardess went away. =_=

Anyway, Hanoi was pretty cold when I reach there. Had to wear my jacket. It was windy and the air there smells like haze. The weather looks hazy too. Its much colder than Genting Highland thats for sure.

We checked into a budget inn at Hanoi Old Quarter. Very nice cozy place with lots of honking even at late night. That is Vietnam for you. Then evening, we took a taxi ride to one of the popular food outlet. Forgot the name of it. You can find all of Vietnamese food under one roof. Northern , Southern Vietnam foods. We only order few of them. Love them all.

Canon Photography Workshop

September 9th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Event Coverage

I learned that most of the workshop done by Canon is boring. Now that I experienced it, yes it is long hours of boredom. Is very obvious their objective is to increase more people to buy canon products. Kept on comparing Canon products to Nikon. White side versus the Dark Side. I am more familiar with Nikon products as I am a Nikon user myself. From what I see, throughout the workshop, they mentioned on Nikon disadvantages and Canon advantages from it. They never mention the downside of Canon where Nikon are superior in their own ways.

I was one of the person who presented there on behalf of the Sarawak Photo-Art Society. Well only 15 mins presentation on the website I developed for the society.

Bryan & Jinny Wedding in Bangkok

July 27th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Event Coverage

I was given a rare opportunity to shoot a wedding in Bangkok, Thailand. Not knowing Thai wedding ceremony procedure, I was not really prepared for most of it. Fortunately, the wedding was a slow and chanting process. I manage to capture all the important moments of the ceremony. It was definitely an interesting experience to shoot.
